Most of the impressions of Japan revolves around shopping, shopping and shopping, it is right, even though there is very few nature attractions in Tokyo, but if you really want to experience something different, you can consider visiting the art museums in Tokyo! There are many well-known musuems in Tokyo, such as, The Ueno Royal Museum Ghibli Museum(三鷹の森美術館),Fujiko · F · Fujio Museum(Doraemon Museum), Cup Noodles Musuem and etc.. There are really a lot of them! However, the admission fees are not very cheap, if you want to visit museum and didn’t want to spend too much, the following are those museums with free admission in Tokyo!

Museum of Advertising and Marketing “Advertising Museum Tokyo “


It is located in Shiodome, it is one of the foreign tourist’s favourite, and the exhibition tracks the history of advertising in Japan, from the Edo Period until now. You will see how beautiful the advertising board is since the Edo Period, as a piece of art, it is worth the visit. Besides advertising photos and drawing, there are a lot of book related to advertising too, if you are in the advertising industry, you must not miss it!


ADMT is near Tsukiji Market and Shimbashi Station, it is recommended to arrange the itineraries on the same day!

Japan Football Museum


The museum was built as a memorial museum for 2002 FIFA World Cup, the exhibition is largely related to football, such as J.League jerseys and etc., if you are here in Japan for a football match, you could test out your skill in the museum!

Tokyo Water Science Museum東京都水の科学館


If you are travelling with children, this museum will be a good option! There are a lot of activities organized by the museum, children can experience the 4D projectors with sensor and water experiments, there is also water making activity, one of the must-see attraction in the museum is the 10 meter tall artificial waterfall!

Even though most of the breweries in Japan provide learning tours, but most of them require reservations and the scale is very small. The Sake Plaza near Shinbanshi will introduce you to the sake making process, history of sake, knowledge about the beans and etc, the museum has a huge collections of sake from different years and brands, there is a sale and testing section in the museum too (with admission fees), it is a must-go place for all sake lover!
